Nicholas McGrue

Founder Nicholas McGrue started Polymath Legal as an answer to a lifelong question: how can I be of service to others? Born and raised in Tacoma, Washington, Nic attended the University of Washington-Seattle, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in American Ethnic Studies. He then pursued a juris doctorate at Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law, where he focused his studies on real estate, business, and entrepreneurship. While in law school, Nic externed for the Washington State Court of Appeals and worked in-house for a Fortune 100 company. After graduation, Nic worked at an international tax law consulting firm. That sparked an interest in tax law in Nic and he later obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) in Taxation and Financial Services with a certificate in U.S. Taxation. Currently, Nic is the principal at Polymath Legal. He is also a tenured professor of law, teaching law and real estate classes at the undergraduate, graduate, and law school levels. Nic is licensed to practice law in California and Washington and holds a California Real Estate Broker’s License. In his free time, Nic enjoys cooking, hiking, live theater, practicing and performing card magic, playing his saxophone, and cheering on his Washington Huskies.

“Don’t sweat the petty stuff and don’t pet the sweaty stuff.”
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Marianne Williamson

Meet Nic McGrue

Nicholas “Nic” McGrue founded Polymath Legal with one guiding question: How can I best serve others?
Born and raised in Tacoma, Washington, Nic earned his bachelor’s degree in American Ethnic Studies from the University of Washington–Seattle before earning his Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law, focusing on real estate, business, and entrepreneurship. During law school, he externed for the Washington State Court of Appeals and worked in-house for a Fortune 100 company.

After graduating, Nic joined an international tax law consulting firm, where his passion for tax law grew. He went on to earn a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation and Financial Services, along with a certificate in U.S. Taxation.
Today, Nic is the principal attorney at Polymath Legal and a tenured professor of law, teaching law and real estate at the undergraduate, graduate, and law school levels. His work with entrepreneurs and investors inspired him to create Nic’s Law Lessons, a platform dedicated to helping business owners and investors gain legal clarity, protect their assets, and grow with confidence.

Nic is licensed to practice law in both California and Washington and holds a California Real Estate Broker’s License.

When he’s not working, you’ll find Nic cooking, hiking, enjoying live theater, practicing card magic, playing the saxophone, or cheering on his Washington Huskies.
